Demand for chocolate increases
Chocolate remains one of the most popular foods in the world. According to Bloomberg, 310,408 metric tons of cocoa beans were ground in 2013's second quarter by European manufacturers, which is a 6.1 percent increase over the totals from the same time period last year. Additionally, some small business owners have noticed a recent uptick in demand. For instance, Joe Sammartino, owner of Phillips Candy House, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that he believes demand is trending upward
